Creative Choices

Red One Digital Cinematography Camera

Digital media technology has been advancing in a rapid pace in the last 20 years. With the advent of PCs in the 80s, the digital format has slowly replaced the analog format as the new standard. Starting out with music technology (CDs and Digital Recording), it has taken over Photography (Digital Image Capture), is currently being implemented in Television (Digital TV) and soon, will be the standard for Cinema (Digital Motion Capture) too.

Like any other revolution, this change has instigated arguments and controversy. There will always be a vanguard pushing for the new, and an "old guard" resisting the shift. This debate has finally reached the last bastion of Analog media -- Cinema. The argument rages on. Is film still a better acquisition media than digital for Movies?

Pavement Photography 1

Every Sunday afternoon we bring our daughter to Acting class. My wife goes in with her and I usually end up waiting in the parking lot with my son.

Today, while I was smoking outside the car, I began to notice the beautiful patterns on the pavement...

Pet Store

We ran out of fishfood so we stopped by the Pet Store.

It has always facinated me how people instantly "lighten up" at the sight of animals.

One Goldfish could not be that much different from the next one... It must be something more primal.

One Hot Afternoon

It was one long afternoon. We had to drive all the way to Newport Beach to help my brother... The normal 1 hour drive took 3 hours in bumper to bumper traffic. It was an extremely hot day and everybody in the car badly needed a toilet break.

A friendly neighborhood Starbucks saved the day!

When we finally arrived in Newport there was still some sun... So the kids made the most out of it!

Fortune Cookie - Seeing

We had Chinese Takeout tonight and I got this in my fortune cookie...

"The eyes believe themselves; the ears believe other people."

I guess we need to cover our ears sometimes to see better!

Michael Douglas

Congratulations to Michael Douglas, AFI Lifetime Achievement Awardee!

I first saw Michael on TV when I was five years old, on "the Streets of San Francisco" with Karl Malden. I watched him as a teenager in two of my favorite films, "Coma" and "Running." I loved him as Gordon Gekko and as Nick Curran. My wife is a fan of "the American President," "Disclosure" and "A Perfect Murder." I was mesmerized by his performances in "Basic Instinct," "Falling Down," and "the Game." One of my most favorite films of all time is "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Thank you Michael for continuing to be a part of all of our lives...

Pinkberry

The temperature today hit 92 degrees... I was starting to melt, when my daughter suggested that we get some Pinkberry. I grabbed the car keys and we were on our way in 2 minutes flat.

Feeding My Child

I don't know if it is a universal dilema, but teaching our children to eat right has been one constant struggle...

My wife and I would spend an hour or more (every mealtime), monitoring and encouraging our son to finish his plate of food. This, of course, does not apply to chocolate, ice cream or candy which disappears in a flash!

Our daughter had a similar problem that lasted until last year...

Now, she loves food and constantly eats! How did that happen???? Is there an eating gene that suddenly kicks-in when you're seven?

That's two years of extra Blogging time... while I wait for my son to finish his food. Thank G-d for mobile technology!

Afternoon at the Park

We took the kids to the park yesterday...

The kids had a blast! I, on the other hand, just became nostalgic about my youth.

Shrimp Feast

We are having shrimps from the Boiling Crab tonight!

Summer Oasis

As the heat soars, swimming pools come into the picture...my pictures.

A dip in the pool will wash away those summertime blues.
