RJ Guitar queue on the day of the sale
2010 has been an eventful year for me. It will always be known as the year I survived a stroke... and consequently, I will always remember it as a major turning point in my life. With this traumatic episode somewhat behind me, I wanted to end the year in a happier note. Here is my quiet and (thankfully) uneventful, yet merry, Christmas holiday in a nutshell.
My Christmas came early... with the RJ Guitar Sale last Dec. 12. I was able to purchase a beautiful Killer Bass Guitar at half the price! Reno and I stood in line outside the store for an hour, then spent another two hours inside shoulder to shoulder with other guitar fans before we got our items processed. I know most Filipinos love singing, but that was pandemonium!
Dr. Tiongson checks my daughter
We had the children checked by their doctor before vacation started. Our daughter's harrowing experience two years ago taught us to be more cautious, specially during Holidays (because Doctors also leave).
Shopping for Christmas gifts
As soon as the schools closed we went shopping for gifts. Having missed Christmas in the Philippines for the last four years, we have forgotten how crazy this season becomes -- unbelievable traffic and packed malls. In this country, gift giving is a must. It is traditionally required, everyone from your newspaper delivery boy to your favorite waiter in a restaurant is expecting a gift. You would be surprised at how nice and gracious people suddenly become during Christmas time.
My daughter opening her gifts in my parent's house
As usual, we had to divide our time between my family and Anne's family. We chose to spent Christmas Eve and Day with her family, because my family wanted to spend a week up in the mountains (Tagaytay). The kids had tons of presents... Anne got a couple of designer bags... I got a Canon lens mug and a couple of shirts.
Playing my "wildcat" guitar
We went up to my parents' house inside the Tagaytay Highlands Country Club after Christmas. Reno and I brought our guitars with us. The cool mountain air was the perfect setting for impromptu jamming and singing. Aside from the songs I can already play , I came home knowing a dozen more... including the infamous "Hotel California."
